Han is a classical pianist, composer, and visual artist. He has performed in concerts around western Canada, composed numerous original pieces, accompanied vocal and instrumental music, done sessional keyboard work, and written dozens of arrangements that have been downloaded around the world. He has been teaching piano for twenty years and he has adjudicated at music festivals in British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.

At the piano, Han’s repertoire ranges from the Renaissance to the modern era, with major works from Bach’s Goldberg Variations to Prokofiev’s Piano Sonata 6. His performances have included concerts with Symphony of the Kootenays (Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto 1), chamber music with Timepoint Ensemble, and solo recitals for Calgary ProArts and Rosetown Music Festival. He participated in the CMC finals for piano and harpsichord, the CMC Stepping Stone, and the RBC Concerto Competition with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.

As a composer Han has focused on writing chamber music, including a string trio and a quartet, as well as several instrumental duets, including Ballad Concerto for Cello and Piano and Three Dances for Oboe and Piano, the latter of which received a grant from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. For piano he has written a sonata and numerous short character pieces, including an arrangement of Ho Ho Watanay, commissioned by ARMTA and published for Canada’s 150th along with works by seven other Alberta composers.

Outside of music, Han is an avid visual artist, focusing on media work, painting, and miniatures. He has done photography and videography work for local weddings, businesses, and organisations including Instrumental Society of Calgary, Astralis String Quartet, and Equilibrium School.
Han graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Music in piano performance and a Bachelor of Arts in English literature, and holds Licentiate and Associate diplomas in piano performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music.
