Mount Royal staff, faculty and students have chosen a winning centennial logo

The competition committee has tallied the votes of more than 2,000 students, faculty and staff.

This is what they chose to represent Mount Royal’s Centennial. International student, Gustavo Del Castillo’s design captured the most favour with his simple, yet emphatic design. The new logo will be used to promote Mount Royal’s centennial in 2010/2011.

Del Castillo says he is honoured to be a part of Mount Royal’s history: “To be the creator of the face of Mount Royal’s centennial is so incredible. I never imagined getting this far in the competition, and to actually win, it is amazing. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Del Castillo beat out dozens of initial student entries.

Before being judged by the Mount Royal community, he was one of five students that had to pass through a gauntlet of celebrity judges including:

  • Lorne Motley, Editor-in-Chief, Calgary Herald
  • Tim Morris , VP Business Development, Consumer Markets, Getty Images
  • Steve Buckingham, Senior Art Director, Critical Mass
  • Dave Marshall, President, Mount Royal
  • Lucille Gnanasihamany, Marketing Director, Mount Royal

In addition to the bragging rights, Del Castillo wins a $1,000 cash prize.
