What is a threaded discussion forum?

Many on-campus or distance learning courses at Mount Royal College include links to local or external threaded discussion forums, or discussion boards.

A threaded discussion forum is an online service that people can use to exchange information and ideas on various topics. When you access a threaded discussion page, you will see a list of discussion topics, or boards, which you can click on to view, post, and/or respond to messages submitted by others.

What is a listserv?

A listserv is an Internet mailing list distribution system where posted messages are sent to email addresses registered to the mailing list.

What is Electronic Mail (Email)?

Email is a system for sending messages or files electronically from one computer to one or several others. To participate in an online course, you may need an email account to communicate with your instructor and other students online.

You can get a free web-based email account through Hotmail, or you can set up an email account through an Internet Service Provider, such as
