Community Seminar
Community Based Research (CHST 4403)
Child Studies @ Mount Royal University

In celebration of our partner agencies and the hard work completed by the students this semester, Child and Youth Studies alumni are invited to a Community Seminar hosted by the Department of Child and Youth Studies at Mount Royal University (free of charge). The students will be displaying their accomplished research in a poster presentation and will be available for questions and discussion about their various projects. We will also welcome special guest, Dr. Laura Ghali (see bio below), who will speak on community development, the research tool box, and translating research into community work. Please feel free to invite colleagues, agency staff and other community members

Dr. Laura Ghali is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Pediatrics. Her current work involves translating new knowledge in developmental neuroscience into early years programming and service delivery. She is involved in assessing current training initiatives in early child development as well as evaluating the effects of parenting programs and pre-school interventions on school readiness, early literacy and health outcomes
 

Past Events

Thanks to faculty, alumni and students who attended ACCYS's AGM on Nov. 21, 2011. A special thank you is extended to past board members for their work and dedication. Best wishes to the newly elected board members in their endeavors to create activities of interest to the chapter members.

The Chapter worked on projects centered around the International Children's Well-Being Symposium which was held on Oct. 26 & 27, 2011. Thank you to all the alumni who attended.

Thank you to the alumni who came out to the Wine and Cheese Reception on Feb. 4, 2011 and participated in the Annual General Meeting. A special thank you is extended to Dawne Clark who provided an update about the Centre for Child Well-Being, the new Child Development Observation Lab  and the International Children's Well-Being Symposium.

Thank you to the Mount Royal Child and Youth Alumni that attended the Wine and Cheese Social on March 12, 2010. A special thank you goes out to Sylvia Storry from the Child and Youth Association of Alberta who provided valuable information about the Association and how to update our professional status. Thank you also to the students who volunteered at the event.
