Exceptional learning spaces

To meet the requirements of a top undergraduate university, Mount Royal has a pressing need for:

New expanded Science Wing at Mount Royal

Library and Learning Centre

The new Library and Learning Centre will span more than 16,000 square meters over four floors and will be constructed to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold specifications.

The facility will triple the study space available for students and will more than double the space available for collections. There will be more than 620 classroom seats with total student seating throughout the facility estimated at approximately 1,500.

Conservatory and Concert Hall

To open in 2013, the new Conservatory and Concert Hall will be unlike anything else in the city – and the first new performing arts venue to be built in more than a decade. The world-class instruction and performance facility will:

  • expand community programs to accommodate an additional 4,800 people
  • open a much-needed, multipurpose performance hall, seating an audience of 750, adding significant capacity to the city’s scarce inventory of mid-sized performance spaces
  • enhance outreach programs and use technology to reach diverse groups, including the aboriginal community, seniors and those in rural communities
  • give local arts and community organizations access to a professional performance venue essential for their continued viability
  • create a hub of arts education and performance in southwest Calgary

Student Learning and Research Facilities in Science and Health

By expanding urgently needed scholarship, research, and lab spaces, our donors will directly impact the quality of health care in Calgary and Alberta. Well-equipped labs are integral to such science-intensive programs as the Bachelor of Nursing. The facility will also greatly enhance our new undergraduate degree programs, such as the Bachelor of Science, and provide much-needed space for students enrolled in all of Mount Royal’s new degrees, as each credential includes required science courses.

Students will be given the opportunity to participate in high-level scientific research through direct interaction with their faculty mentors and collaboratively with one another. The facilities will include dedicated spaces for students and faculty, as well as more study and common spaces. Additionally, students will be exposed to equipment and techniques not normally accessible to undergraduate students at other universities.

You can help us create exceptional learning spaces for Mount Royal students. Here's how to make your gift.
