Mount Royal hosts Canadian experts for New Directions in Aboriginal Policy forum

(CALGARY – June 9, 2009) Public policy experts from across Canada will be participating in “New Directions in Aboriginal Policy,” a free public forum encouraging open and honest debate on aboriginal policy in Canada. The forum will be held at Mount Royal on Friday, June 12 in the Moot Court Room (EA 1031) from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

A number of scholars, from a wide variety of disciplines, have been invited to put forward their views on the state of Canadian aboriginal policy development. This will include a keynote address by the distinguished Political Scientist from the University of Waterloo, Alan Cairns, as well as three panels on important policy areas - economic development, governance and social policy.

Students, faculty, and the public are encouraged to participate in discussions about how to improve relations between aboriginal and non-aboriginal people in Canada.
