Better future
The purpose of the ENMAX/Thomas Wood Distinguished Speaker Series is to present a speaker who inspires, engages and enlightens the audience.
This public forum is for thinkers and leaders who have shaped our world, and for those who will transform it in the future. Art, science, literature, business, architecture, education, philosophy, music, economics, media, ethics, community, technology — the ENMAX/Thomas Wood Distinguished Speaker Series calls on important voices whose insights and observations challenge conventions and encourage critical thought and discussion.
This event encourages business professionals, community leaders, faculty and students to explore the issues of today and tomorrow, as theory and practice come together in a stimulating, thought-provoking dialogue.
The ultimate goal of the ENMAX/Thomas Wood Distinguished Speaker Series is to further enhance the value of a liberal arts education and its role in shaping well-rounded leaders — both in business and in the community.
How the Speaker Series was established
The ENMAX/Thomas Wood Distinguished Speaker Series is held in partnership with ENMAX.
It was established in honour of Mount Royal’s seventh president, Dr. Thomas Lincoln Wood. He devoted more than three decades of his life to Mount Royal as an instructor of philosophy and later as academic vice-president before serving as president for 14 years.
