School of Shakespeare
High school intensive
“To be or not to be” in SITP's School of Shakespeare? That is the question.
Have you ever wanted to call for Romeo from a vine-covered balcony or have you imagined turning Bottom into an ass? Well, Friends, Romans and 12- to 18-year-old aspiring actors, lend me your ears!
Join 2009 SITP company member Brian Smith for a one-week summer intensive training workshop, learning about professional theatre in a fun, friendly, creative environment.
The course will focus on the acquisition and practice of skills - physical, vocal, imaginative, analytical, creative - needed to bring Shakespeare's plays to life on the stage. Participants will gain practical experience in the study and performance of both monologues and scenes from Shakespeare. Special sessions on the use of masks for imaginative character development will be included in the program. Guest instructors from the SITP company will share their professional expertise and enhance the program. Students will also attend rehearsals for SITP performances and observe first-hand professional rehearsal practice. You'll wrap up with a grand finale showcase of your creations, presented in front of an invited audience at Mount Royal's outdoor TransCanada Amphitheatre.

Come and experience the Bard!
Dates: July 27 - 31, 2009
Aug 10 - 14, 2009
