As Shakespeare in the Park celebrated its 22nd season, more than 750,000 Calgarians and visitors from all walks of life enjoyed the works of the Bard in Calgary’s most anticipated and popular outdoor summer festival.
SITP's 2009 summer programme at Prince's Island Park included:
Romeo and Juliet: The timeless tale of “two star crossed lovers” seeking love and peace amid the violence of gang warfare.
A Midsummer Night's Dream: The fantastical tale of love and romance set in a magical forest. Featuring the music of Queen.
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged): A hilarious and fast-paced romp through the Bard’s 37 plays — all in under an hour.
Shakespeare’s in Love: Our outreach production, in partnership with the Lougheed House, featuring scenes, songs and sonnets from Shakespeare’s best known plays of love.
School of Shakespeare: A one-week summer Shakespeare intensive training workshop, learning about the Bard in a fun, friendly, creative environment.
