Mount Royal to hold its first Convocation as a University
(CALGARY – Nov. 4, 2009) Mount Royal University will be hosting its very first Convocation as a University, Nov. 6, 2009. It will be held in the Triple Gym at 2 p.m.
Harold Kvisle, president and CEO of TransCanada Corp. and former chair of Mount Royal’s Board of Governors, will be awarded Mount Royal University’s second honorary degree. The Bachelor of Arts degree will be conferred on Kvisle for his outstanding contributions as a successful business leader and in recognition of his valuable service to Mount Royal as Board Chair.
Mount Royal’s Professor Emeritus award, which recognizes retired faculty members for significant contributions and exceptional service during their long-term association with the school, will be given to John Robertson who was instrumental in helping to develop Mount Royal’s Department of Sociology and Anthropology.
“It is a great honour to be designated Professor Emeritus,” says Robertson. “Mount Royal has always been a wonderful place to work and it has truly validated me as a professional anthropologist.”
