(CALGARY – Nov. 10, 2009) Internationally recognized expert in healthy aging and one of the authors of the Okinawa Diet Program, Dr. Craig Willcox, will be speaking to Mount Royal University faculty, students and senior groups from the neighbouring community next week.
Willcox’s presentation, Lessons in Healthy Aging from the World’s Oldest People, will be held on Monday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. in the Lincoln Park Room (J301) at Mount Royal University.
His cross-cultural approach to the study of human aging has led him to spend many years living, teaching and conducting research in Japan. He is currently a professor of International Health/Welfare & Gerontology at Okinawa International University.
Marianne Rogerson, program coordinator for Mount Royal’s Gerontology Certificate Program says, “For centuries the scientific community has attempted to identify the secret to a long and healthy life. Through his research with centenarians in Okinawa, Japan, Dr. Craig Willcox sheds additional insight into human self-interest in longevity.”
