Mount Royal University presents inaugural Legacy Awards

(CALGARY – Sept. 21, 2009) The outstanding achievements of Mount Royal alumni and students will be formally recognized at the first-ever Mount Royal University Legacy Awards Dinner on Thurs., Sept. 24, 2009.

A reception will be held at 6 p.m., followed by the dinner and awards ceremony at 7 p.m. in the BMO Centre, Palomino Room, Roundup Centre (Stampede Park, 1410 Olympic
Way SE).

Co-hosts for the evening are Distinguished Alumnus, Chris Gailus (Broadcasting '89) and Devon Weigel (Theatre Arts '01). The Honourable Norman L. Kwong, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, the recipient of Mount Royal University’s very first Honorary Bachelor’s Degree, will also be speaking at the event.

The 2009 Legacy Awards recipients to be honoured include:
Ryan Correy, Ecotourism and Outdoor Leadership, 2009 (Horizon Award)
Sid Marty, Arts and Science, 1965 (Lifetime Distinguished Achievement Award)
Dr. Michael Kim, Mount Royal Conservatory Academy of Music, 1988 (Outstanding Alumni Award – Arts and Culture)
Wayne Wiebe, Environmental Quality Control, 1974 (Outstanding Alumni Award - Professional Achievement)
Erin Delamont, Bachelor of Business Administration, 2011, Vice President Academic, Students’ Association (Outstanding Future Alumni Award)
