Mount Royal University to offer degrees at Medicine Hat College

(CALGARY – Feb. 1, 2010) Building on a history of collaboration, Mount Royal University and Medicine Hat College signed an agreement today that will enable Medicine Hat College to deliver a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

The agreement, which was signed by Mount Royal President Dave Marshall and Medicine Hat College President Ralph Weeks, will also develop a University transfer program in the Bachelor of Computer Information Systems, deliver Mount Royal General Education course at Medicine Hat College and explore future possibilities of joint programs, course delivery and scholarship on teaching and learning.

“As a new University in the Campus Alberta system, Mount Royal will play a pivotal role by developing partnerships to offer our new degree programs to students at other institutions. Medicine Hat College has always been a great partner, so it is fitting that we start this joint programming with them,” says Mount Royal’s Provost and Vice-President, Academic, Robin Fisher.

Both institutions will meet on a regular basis to plan and review activities and to coordinate future efforts.

“I’m very pleased to sign this agreement and begin working with one of Canada’s newest and most progressive universities, Weeks says. “When students leave the Medicine Hat region for education, they’re often looking to complete a degree. This agreement with Mount Royal will help those students by providing an opportunity to learn at home.”
