Mount Royal University unveils new logo
(CALGARY – Feb. 22, 2010) Mount Royal University acknowledges its rich history and celebrates its potential through the unveiling of a new logo today.
“The inclusion of our founding date — 1910 — reflects nearly 100 years of innovation and leadership in higher education,” says Mount Royal President Dave Marshall.
The new logo is the result of extensive research conducted by Mount Royal and design partner Cundari, which was chosen through an RFP process. The collaboration included consultation with more than 1,600 students, prospective student applicants, staff, faculty and various members of University leadership.
“It is an evolution rather than a revolution from our previous logo,” says Mount Royal’s Director of Marketing, Lucille Gnanasihamany. “Like our current logo, which is meant to depict a person reading a book, a classic reference to learning and education, the new logo keeps the theme of an open book by featuring a graphic integrating three open books.”
The shape, while made up of three open books, is also intended to reinforce other relevant aspects of Mount Royal.
Gnanasihamany adds, “It is reminiscent of our national symbol of a maple leaf, reinforcing Mount Royal's aspiration to be the premier undergraduate university in Canada.”
