Welcome to the Office of the President. This site provides biographical information about the President, information about the organization of the President’s Office, presidential committees and resource materials.

David Docherty, PhD, became Mount Royal University’s ninth President on Aug. 1, 2011. An accomplished academic, author and administrator, David comes to Mount Royal from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, ON, where he served as Senior Advisor on Multi-Campus Initiatives in the Office of the Vice-President: Academic and Provost. Before that, he was the Dean of Laurier’s Faculty of Arts.

The President is the Chief Executive Officer, responsible to the Board of Governors and to the General Faculties Council for the supervision of Mount Royal University’s administrative and academic work. The President is supported by staff and advisors, who are responsible for various academic and non-academic services, including:
