

Duane Anderson is the Acting Vice-President, Administrative Services. He assumed the position on Sept. 1, 2011 after spending the past 13 years in various capacities at the institution. Mr. Anderson was the Associate Vice-President of Finance, Planning and Risk Services from Nov. 2009 to Sept. 2011. Prior to that, he was Director of Financial Services from Feb. 1998 to Nov. 2009. Before joining Mount Royal, Mr. Anderson held senior financial officer positions with Olds College, the Calgary Regional Health Authority and Calgary General Hospital.
Mr. Anderson is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and obtained this designation in Oct. 1989. He holds a Business Administration Diploma — Accounting major from Medicine Hat College and, in 1986, received the College’s gold medal award for academic excellence.
As the Acting Vice-President, Administrative Services, Mr. Anderson is the Chief Financial Officer and oversees the management of non-academic administrative and operational services that support the University’s mission by providing specialized services to the Mount Royal community, while at the same time providing a safe, healthy and productive environment for students, faculty and staff. The Administrative Services Division also serves as a link between University administration and the Board of Governors on all matters relating to finance, human resources, technology and facilities.
Mr. Anderson is committed to not only the success of the University, but also to the success of his staff and colleagues. He encourages the growth and professional development of the people around him. In 2002, he received the Distinguished Administrator/Manager Award for distinguished service to Mount Royal. In 2008 Mr. Anderson was a recipient of the Effective Team Award for his work and contribution on the Strategic Information Technology Planning Committee. Mr. Anderson’s dedication goes beyond the University community. A volunteer with Mount Royal’s United Way campaign since 1999, he also serves on community boards and has coached minor league sporting teams for more than a decade.
