Learn About START

START is a program offered by Mount Royal’s Academic Development Centre (ADC), which supports students’ effective use of digital technologies (mobile devices, computers, learning technologies, media tools) in the context of students’ academic success.

START provides students with just-in-time support and one-one-one training for a variety of applications, making working with technology easier. START also supports faculty by offering in class workshops upon request. See the Book a Workshop for Your Class page for more details.

  • MyMRU: activation, access, navigation, basic troubleshooting
  • Blackboard: access, navigation, exploring features
  • Google Apps: School Email, Calendar, Drive and Docs, Sites Forms, and other
  • MS Office: navigation, formatting, printing
  • Mobile issues: Wi-Fi, email setup, calendars
  • Printing on campus
  • Scanning on campus
  • Media Production & Editing: recording, editing, burning on DVD, uploading to Drive, or YouTube
  • Design: making posters, Adobe CC applications
Services NOT Provided
  • Repairing hardware contact local computer stores
  • Software installation, unlocking passwords, removing viruses, retrieving corrupted files
  • Completing class assignments / projects, referencing and citing (Student Learning Services)
