Academic Strategists Responsibilities

Academic Strategists meet with students with disabilities individually to instruct them in non-content based study strategies. When working with students, the Academic Strategist is expected to provide basic skill building in some or all of the areas of:

Ø  Student Rights and Responsibilities

Ø  Self-Advocacy & Assertive Communication

Ø  Goal Setting

Ø  Organization

Ø  Active Listening and Notetaking

Ø  Integrating Course Materials

Ø  Memory

Ø  Test Taking Strategies

Ø  Active Reading

Ø  Decoding & Comprehension

Ø  Critical Reading & Thinking

Ø  Writing Fundamentals

Ø  Essay Elements

Ø  Researching, Outlining & Thesis Development

Ø  Editing & Referencing
