How to Apply for Grants for Students with Disabilities

  • First, complete an Alberta Student Aid application. You must be eligible for a Canada Student Loan in order to receive grants.
  • Register with our office and meet with an Access Advisor. They will assess if you might be eligible for grants. They might also refer you to an Assistive Technology Advisor who can assess if you might be eligible for technology grants.
    • If you may be eligible for grants, the Access Advisor, Access Supports Coordinator, or Assistive Technology Advisor will complete a form called a Schedule 4 (disability grant application) and submit it to Alberta Student Aid on your behalf.
  • Once you have been approved for grants, you will be automatically assessed for grant eligibility each year you complete a new Student Aid Alberta application.
