Student privacy / FOIP Act

To protect Mount Royal students' personal records and information, our staff and faculty are required to follow the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act.

We are not permitted to release records or personal contact information to any third party without prior written approval from the student.

Please keep in mind that due to FOIP requirements, we are unable to provide you with specific information about your student’s records.

We would be happy to provide you with clarification of the admission requirements and the admission process, but we cannot discuss their grades or the status of their application.

Finding information on your student

To protect Mount Royal students’ personal records and information, our staff and faculty are required to follow the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act. Our staff can only provide students with information about their status, records and personal contact information. We are not permitted to release or discuss this information with parents, families or loved ones due to the legal restrictions of the FOIP act.

Mount Royal staff cannot discuss or release information regarding a Mount Royal student in reference to the student’s:

• application or admission status
• transcripts, grades or records
• personal contact information
• course selection or schedule

The best way to find out about your student’s academic success at Mount Royal is to discuss their application or academic status with them.

If they would like you to have access to their student records, your student may complete and sign the release of information form available at the Office of the Registrar.
