In an odd academic year (2013, 2015, 2017, etc) it will be awarded for the outstanding critical essay on a poem, poet, poetic period, or any other outstanding work related to the critical analysis of poetry. In an even academic year (2014, 2016, 2018, etc) it will be awarded to that individual who produces the best portfolio of poems produced in a Mount Royal University creative writing course.
