
The Mount Royal Cougars failed to gain any ground in the CCAA Ping Golf Championships on Thursday, and will need a stellar third day to move up the rankings in both individual and team competition.
The Humber College men continued their domination of the field on the second day of the tournament, and now lead the team competition by 22 strokes over the second place team from the University of the Fraser Valley. The Cougars are currently in 8th place, 39 shots off the lead.
The Cougar men’s team breakdown thru two rounds is as follows:

In individual competition, Craig Bloom sits tied for 14th place after a second round 77, while Jeremy Vold has posted back-to-back 75’s to put himself in a tie for 19th place.

Leading the field is David Lang of Humber College, who shot 67 on day two to take a four shot lead into the final day.
On the women’s side, the Cougars find themselves in a tie for fourth place, but are 45 shots off the lead going into the third and final round. The Cougars are eight shots off the pace of third place Lethbridge College, and are hoping a strong final round will help them contend for a medal. The Durham lords sit alone in first, with a scorching two-day total of 315, leading second place UBC-Okanagan by 13 shots.

In individual competition, the Cougar women all sit in the top 20. Lauren Schmidek sits in a tie for 10th place, Maddy Pedersen is alone in 13th place, and Katie Benoit is in 19th place. The leader, Josee Doyon from Champlain College, has taken the field by storm with back-to-back 74s to lead second place golfer Tiffany Albath from Durham College by nine strokes.
