Season outlook

Coming off a successful season as reigning ACAC provincial and CCAA national champions, the Cougars women’s volleyball team is excited to embark on a new year with a squad of 11 passionate girls.

The young team is led by returning third-years, libero Julie Deveson, middle blocker Julia Pasieka and setter Mackenzie Allen, who bring experience and commitment to the floor.

They are joined by third-year transfers Olivia Grecu, Kate Porta and Ashley Lundy. Strong outside hitter Olivia Grecu comes to the Cougars after two years with the McGill Martlets. Left-side powerhouse Kate Porta, comest to the team from the Grand Prairie Regional College (GPRC) Wolves and after two years with the Medicine Hat Rattlers, middle blocker Ashley Lundy brings a dominate net presence to the team.

Second-year outsides Katie Benoit, Fallon Middlemiss and Castell Van Paridon add calm confidence and control to the court. Adding speed to the Cougar offense is second-year middle blocker Lindsey Kist.

First-year setter Jenna Smith contributes sheer passion and determination and is excited to get the season underway.

The Cougars have already been hard at work in the gym and are focused on achieving their goals for another rewarding season.
