HistoryCougar Athletics has been a proud part of Mount Royal since its inception in 1910. Mount Royal played an integral part in the creation of the ACAC (formerly the 4-West Conference) during the 1965-66 Season and was a driving force behind the formation of the CCAA in 1974.
No other institution in Canada has been more successful than Mount Royal since the creation of the CCAA. In 1999, the Cougars were awarded the CCAA Sport Supremacy Award recognizing Mount Royal as having the most successful collegiate athletic program in Canada over the first 25 years of the CCAA's existence.
The Cougars are proud of our storied history and the coaches, athletes and administrators that have all contributed our success. The spirit of these individuals can be encapsulated by three powerful words — tradition, leadership and commitment. These three words stand as a testament to what it is Cougar Athletics stands for and the dedication we have to providing a positive educational and athletic experience for everyone involved with our program.
