ACAC Golf Championships headed to Mount Royal

The Mount Royal University Cougars are set to welcome some of the provinces best golfers, as the ACAC Championship is set to take place at the Wintergreen Golf Club in Bragg Creek, Alberta Thursday, September 30th and Friday, October 1st.

The two day affair will feature 52 of the provinces best golfers, all looking to ‘go low’ in their search to claim ACAC gold.

Last season, the Cougars men’s team crushed the opposition on their way to a 30 stroke victory, but will face stiff competition in the Grant MacEwan Griffins who had a strong showing at the ACAC south regional’s in Lethbridge, among others.

Meanwhile, the Cougars women’s team looks to improve upon their silver medal finish in last year’s provincial tournament, as they claimed gold in this year’s south regional qualifier.

The golfers will get a true test from the Wintergreen Golf and Country Club, located in Bragg Creek, just 30 minutes southwest of Calgary. The picturesque course features thick pine and spruce trees, a 12-acre lake, numerous ponds and mountain streams, as well as over 100 feet of vertical relief and rolling terrain.

The course plays 6713 yards from the gold tees, where the men will tee off from, and 5598 from the white tees, where the ladies will begin each hole.

On the weather front the golfers can expect clear skies and sunshine as Environment Canada is calling for highs of 22 degrees Celsius both days with lows of only 8 degrees.
