
Day 2:
The Cougar men and women were unable to defend their South Regional titles but
will look to pick up the pace at this weekend’s ACAC championships.
Brett Greiner tied for second in the men’s individual competition with a two day total
of 146, one shot off the pace, while teammate Lauren Schmiedk finished fourth in
women’s individual competition
The ACAC championships will take place at the Desert Blume Golf Course in Medicine
Hat where both the Cougars men’s and women’s golf teams will look to defend their
titles.

Update Day 1:
Day one is in the books at the ACAC south regionals and the Cougars will be looking to knock off a few strokes on day two.
Brett Greiner was the low Cougar male, shooting a three-over 75 to sit in fifth place. Craig Bloom was the second highest finisher representing Mount Royal, firing a 76 in the opening round.
As a team, the Cougars sit in third place overall, with a team total of 317, 16 shots behind both the Grant MacEwan Griffins and Lethbridge Kodiaks who sit at 301.
Meanwhile, the Cougar women sit in third place out of the five team field, lead by Katie Benoit who fired an 86.

The Mount Royal Cougar golf team will be in action on Sunday, September 25 for day one of the two day South Regional Tournament. This year’s South Regional will be hosted by the Lethbridge Kodiaks, and will be played at the beautiful Paradise Canyon Golf Resort.
Last year’s South Regional saw the Cougar men with six players in the top ten, with Ryan Tofani taking third place. On the women’s side, Cougars Lauren Schmidek and Maddie Pedersen finished one-two, respectively, capping off a successful tournament for the Cougars.

Captain Nathan Schurr, a fourth-year veteran who placed seventh in last year’s South Regional after a 77 on day one, will lead the Cougars in Lethbridge. Meanwhile, on the women’s side, Lauren Schmidek will look to repeat as champion, and will get a good competitive push from teammate Maddie Pedersen, who won the female Rookie of the Year award at Mount Royal last year.
