Finish fourth overall at ACAC's

The Cougars men’s soccer season has come to an end, as the team dropped a tight 1-0 decision to the Medicine Hat Rattlers in ACAC bronze medal play.

The Cougars started off the championship on a strong note, winning their quarter-final matchup in decisive fashion with a 2-0 victory over the Concordia Thunder in the opening round as Josh Buchanan and Josh Doiron registered goals for the Cougars in the win.

In Saturday’s semi-final, the Cougars were overwhelmed by the host NAIT Ooks, who hadn’t dropped a single game all season, losing to the home side 3-1 - Caden Sawatzky scored the Cougs’ lone goal.

With the loss, the Cougars headed to the bronze medal match on Sunday, where they fell to the Medicine Hat College Rattlers for a second time this season 1-0.

While a third-place finish would have been nice in their final year in the ACAC, the Cougar men knew nothing less than a gold medal would fulfill their expectations.

The team will now have several weeks off, before training begins for the Futsal season, which starts in the new year, with the Cougars heading to Keyano College for the first tournament action January 27-28, 2012.
