The most effective means of losing weight is found in a balance of healthy nutrition and an active lifestyle.

FITT Formula

Frequency 3 to 6 times a week
Intensity:

 Within aerobic zone

Time:

 20-60 minutes of continuous activity

Type:

Any activity that gets your heart rate into your aerobic zone, and keeps it there for 20-60 minutes (ie. walking, skiing, swimming, cycling)

 Weight Loss Facts

  • A healthy weight loss will occur at 1-2 pounds per week
  • It is common to gain weight initially. This occurs as your body increases lean muscle mass and loses fat (remember, muscle weighs more than fat).
  • Pay no attention to the numbers on the scale - rather focus on how you feel and how your clothing fits. These are better measures of weight loss success.
  • Diets only change what you eat; they don't change the habits that helped you to gain weight in the first place.
  • Focus on a healthy food plan with lots of activities that keep you moving!
