
Climbing 101 – The Basics
This “learn the ropes” introductory course covers the technical skills
needed to successfully complete the top rope belay test and use the
Recreation Climbing Centre unsupervised during open climbing hours.
The course fee includes a complimentary Recreation top rope belay test.
Prerequisite(s): 17+ years unless accompanied by a parent or legal
guardian.

Skills Series – Top Rope and Movement
This five week program covers the fundamentals of rope management
and climbing movement. Participants will learn top rope belaying
techniques and foundational movement skills as well as how to rappel.
Lead climbing theory will be discussed towards the end of the course
and if time permits, participants will be given the opportunity to
complete a mock lead climb.
Prerequisite(s): 17+ years unless accompanied by a parent or legal
guardian.

Skills Series – Lead Climbing and Advanced Skills
A five week course that covers lead climbing techniques and
advanced movement topics, as well as rappelling and introductory
rope rescue skills.
Prerequisite(s): 17+ years unless accompanied by a parent or legal
guardian. Completion of the Skills Series – Top Rope and Movement
course or extensive previous top rope climbing experience.

Student Mix & Mingle at the Wall
Mix and mingle with other students at the Recreation Climbing Centre.
Try some new routes, find some new climbing partners or just stop in
and check out the action. Climbing staff will be on-hand between
7:00 pm – 8:30 pm to provide a “taste of the wall” for those with
little or no previous indoor climbing experience.
