- How do I register a team?
The person registering the team will be considered the captain of the team. Captains can register their team in one of three ways — in person at the Recreation Customer Service Centre (U130), by calling 403.440.6517 with a Visa or MasterCard or online. After the captain has registered and paid for the team, they will receive a captain’s package consisting of the Intramural handbook and sport specific rules. At the time of registration, captains must provide contact information including a current email address.
All teams and participants can register through IMLeagues, our new online scheduling and roster management system. Participants must first register their team by paying their registration fee on ePlay, at the Customer Service Desk (U130) or by phone (403.440.6517).
Teams and participants then register their team on IMLeagues to be scheduled for games. Team members can also register and be added to the team rosters through the IMLeagues website. Other benefits of the IMLeague site, including the ability to message all of your team members, track participation and view your personalized schedule, will be discussed at the Participant Meetings.
For info on how to register for IMLeagues, please view the PDF document below.

- I don't know enough people to make a team, can I still play?
Yes, just register and pay the individual fee by the registration date. For team sports, we will form one or more teams of all the individuals registered.
- My friend and I are registering as individuals, can we play on the same team?
Yes, when you register in person or by calling 403.440.6517, you will be asked if you wish to play on the same team as someone else. Just make sure Customer Service enters your response. If you register online, please email intramurals@mtroyal.ca with your request.
- Our team can't play on Tuesdays due to a class, but we still want to play, can we?
To minimize conflicts, please refer to the activity descriptions listing event days and times as leagues may be scheduled for more than one day. Please ensure that your team is available to play at all times in the allotted timeslot.
- I'm not a student at Mount Royal, can I still play?
Mount Royal students, staff, faculty, alumni, and the general public over the age of 18 are welcome to participate in Intramural Sports. Due to facility restrictions, some leagues may be restricted to students, staff, faculty and members of Recreation. Please note: Ice Hockey only allows Recreation members to register.
- How many players do I need for a team?
Each sport has different requirements. Listed below are the maximum number of people that can be on the area of play, the number required to not default, the maximum number allowed on the game sheets and the maximum number allowed on your roster.

- What happens if we default a game?
Defaults occur if a team fails to appear and be ready to play within ten minutes of the scheduled start time. A sportsmanship rating of 0 will be given to the defaulting team, the team that shows up will be given a sportsmanship rating of 4. If a team defaults, they will be required to pay a $50 default bond to Recreation (U130) within 48 hours of their defaulted game. If a team does not pay the bond, they will be removed from the league. In addition, they will be charged with a default and lose 3 points in the standings. The default bond will be returned to the team once the season has ended provided they have not defaulted a second time. Teams eligible to have their default bond returned may pick up their bond 24 hours after their last game from Customer Service. If a team defaults a second time after paying the bond, the team loses the money and is removed from the league. Attempts will be made to reschedule the league games at that point. The default bond rule does not apply to individual teams.
- Can we forfeit a game?
Forfeits will be accepted 48 hours in advance of the scheduled game by completing a forfeit form during the office hours of the IOC or by calling the IOC office. The IOC will attempt to reschedule forfeited games if time permits. Teams that forfeit will not be charged a default and will not lose points in the standings. A sportsmanship rating of 0 will be given.
- When does the fee have to be paid by?
