Brick Training

These interval based bike-run workouts (~75 minutes biking, ~30 minutes running, ~15 minutes core/foam roller/cool down) simulate the bike-run segment of a triathlon. You must supply your own bike and wind trainer.

Prerequisite(s):
17+ years; your own bike and wind trainer; Bike: able to spin continuously for 45 minutes; Run: able to run 5 km without stopping.

These training courses are for first-time, novice and intermediate triathletes and for these seeking well-rounded weekly cross training workouts. Spin bikes are provided for all bike training sessions. Sorry, wind trainers are only allowed in the Brick Training sessions (see above).

Join any time; the fee will be pro-rated. We recommend two or more sessions each week for your weaker discipline(s) (swim, bike or run) and at least one training session for your stronger discipline(s). You may only participate in classes that you are registered in. You may not make up missed classes by attending classes that you’re not registered in. Drop-in registration is not available. Sorry, wind trainers are only allowed in the Brick Training sessions (see above).

MRU Sprint Triathlon (MRTC member get 20% off): Sunday, April 15, 2012

MRTC – Sprint Training Program
For first-time and novice triathletes who would like to work towards participating in sprint distance triathlons (swim 300–500 m, bike 15–20 km, run 3–5 km) and for those looking for introductory swim-bike-run cross training workouts. These sessions are completely geared towards beginner triathletes.

Prerequisite(s): 17+ years; Swim: able to swim 100 m (four pool lengths) of continuous, correct front crawl (freestyle). These are NOT “learn to swim” programs; Bike: able to spin continuously for 20 minutes; Run: able to run at least 1 km without stopping.

MRTC – Olympic Training Sessions
For intermediate triathletes who compete in sprint triathlons and/or would like to work towards participating in Olympic distance triathlons (swim 1500 m, bike 40 km, run 10 km) and also for those wanting to cross train.

Prerequisite(s): 17+ years; Swim: able to swim 500 m of continuous, correct front crawl (freestyle); Bike: able to spin continuously for 45 minutes; Run: able to run 5 km without stopping.

What to bring to the training sessions:
Swim – goggles, swim suit
Bike – water bottle, towel, shirt, shorts cycling shorts are the most comfortable). Spin bikes are provided for all MRTC bike sessions.
Run – running shoes, water bottle, shirt, shorts and/or running pants.
