How we can help
You would approach the Ombudsperson at Mount Royal if you:
- are not sure what to do or who to turn to,
- need information or advice about a problem you have or about a Mount Royal policy or procedure, or
- believe you have been treated unfairly.
The Ombudsperson at Mount Royal is:
- an impartial, objective resource for the Mount Royal community,
- concerned with the rights of every person to be treated fairly,
- able to recommend solutions when complaints are well-founded and to explain why complaints are unfounded,
- a source of information and a way to get advice on rules and procedures, and
- able to identify problems and weaknesses in institutional policy and practice.

If you have a complaint, concern or problem, the Ombudsperson at Mount Royal can help you by:
- listening,
- informally exploring complaints,
- providing information and advice,
- discussing your options and courses of action,
- helping to informally resolve conflict,
- facilitating and mediating during informal dispute resolution processes,
- investigating complaints of unfair treatment in an impartial and objective manner,
- bringing findings and recommendations to the attention of those in authority, and
- suggesting actions, amendments or clarifications to policies to ensure they are equitable to all parties.
