Facilities & services

Mount Royal residences are designed to make on-campus living as easy as possible for our residents. Services and facilities include:

Laundry

Laundry rooms with coin-operated washers and dryers are located in a common area in the East and West Residences. East Residence guest can use their unit key to access the laundry room during the hours listed below.

East Residence Community Building	10 a.m. - 10 p.m. daily
West Residence Building B	10 a.m. - 10 p.m. daily

Each laundry room has a sitting room and television. There is a change machine in the East Residence laundry room and another in the West Residence on the main floor across from the mailboxes.

Storage

Storage is limited.

East Residence:	The basements of the townhouse units are open for the first week of classes and then again right before the exam period for long-term storage. Basements are locked during the semester.
West Residence:	Storage lockers are available in the basement of Building B. Sign up for a locker with the office on a first come, first serve basis and a locker will be assigned to you. You will need your own combination lock. The storage locker room is accessible during office hours.
Summer storage:	Current residents returning for the Fall, may obtain a locker for summer storage. There is a fee for summer storage and you will need to provide your own lock. A signed agreement is available from the office.

Parking

All on-campus parking is managed by Mount Royal Transportation and Parking Services. Please ensure you park in designated lots since vehicles without the correct parking passes will be ticketed by Calgary Police Services and could be towed.

The East Residence has parking with plug-ins for each triad. The West Residence parking lot near the buildings is limited. Plug-ins are available in this lot.

West residents can use the parking area infront of Mount Royal Recreation. These lots do not have plug-ins. If you need a plug-in, you should consider choosing to live in the East Residence and should note this on your application.

Note: Students with an Open Lot parking permit can park in either East Residence or West Residence.

Visitors who do not have MRU parking passes must park in designated visitor pay lots.

Mail

All mail is received at the West Residence office and distributed to student mailboxes located in both East and West. Each student is assigned a mailbox, and this box number is on your key envelope issued at move in. Items that will not fit in these boxes are held at the office in West Residence for pick up. Students will be called to notify of a pick up.

Residence Services will distribute some information throughout the semester through student mailboxes. Often this is information the office feels is necessary and should be provided in writing: how to apply for the next semester, how to properly prepare for move out etc. Students should check this mail box regularly.
