Student Rates And Fees

Living in residence is an easy way to pay for housing while at Mount Royal — one payment (per semester) covers your accommodation fee and all utilities (Heat, Water, Cable TV, and Wireless Internet).

Residence Fees

The total cost for living in residence will require the following fees:

  • Application fee $45 (non-refundable, due at time of application).
  • Security deposit $400 (refundable when you move out [minus any outstanding fees] OR if you are not admitted to Mount Royal)
  • Accommodation rates from the chart above
  • $30.00 per term Residence Programming fee (Fall and Winter Terms)

How And When To Pay Fees

Other than your application fee, which is payable with your application on line or at Residence Services, the security deposit and residence fees are payable to the Office of the Registrar. Please see the following table for payment options, or the fees section of the Mount Royal website.

Student loan/scholarship

N/A

Residence Services will defer payment of residence fees until the second Residence fee deadline (tuition deadline) up to the value of the student loans for the term after tuition has been subtracted. Any shortfall must be paid by the first Residence fee deadline. If your student loan is not from Alberta, Student Awards and Financial Aid at Mount Royal must be aware of the loans and have entered the approved amount onto the student account.  Please provide them with the appropriate documentation.

Installment plan N/A

This option is only available if you pay the first installment by the fee payment deadline noted in dates and deadlines AND if you have a contract for a minimum of a full semester.
