Do you love to play? Our gyms are the perfect space to grab some equipment and a friend or two to have some fun. Between our two gyms we have:
    »     5 volleyball / basketball courts
    »     open court times – check out availability at mru.ca/eplay under “facilities”
    »     free equipment rentals for students, staff and members – basketballs, volleyballs, footballs and more!
    »     rental opportunities
Jump in, make a splash, practice your starfish – you can do it all in our Aquatic Centre which has:
    »     a 25 metre, eight-lane salt water pool – and we’ve heard the temperature is good
    »     hot tub – unfortunately no time machine
    »     diving board – cowabunga!
    »     a motorized lift for those who need assistance getting in and out of the pool
    »     rental opportunities and birthday parties
Looking to get your sweat on? Check out our Fitness Centre where you can find:
    »     lots of space: 14,000 sq.ft. to be exact
    »     a large selection of free weights and weight machines – plenty to choose from
    »     cardio machines with internet and TV – read an online textbook while you cardio!
    »     stretching areas and open spaces for a workout that best suits you
    »     free Fitness Centre orientations – drop by to book a time
    »     bookable weight room
    »     elevator access to upper level
Are you more motivated in a group setting? Then you may find yourself in one of our fitness classes, facilitated in our:
    »     2 fitness studios
    »     multi-purpose room – it’s also a great space for you to do your own workout program
During our two months of summer it’s best to get outside as much as possible. Our outdoor spaces for students, members and staff include:
    »     6 tennis courts
    »     2 beach volleyball courts
    »     field rental opportunities
Playing squash is a fun way to get active. Here’s what you need to know:
    »     6 international squash courts
    »     anyone (including you!) can book online up to seven days in advance
    »     current MRU credit students, employees and members can book online at no charge!

With high ceilings and natural light, the track level is a warm and inviting space for you to get active. Indoor track level includes:
    »     a 200 metre, five-lane track – run Forest, run!
    »     TRX frame and Functional Training Structure, basically an adult jungle gym
    »     cardio machines with internet and TV – you can watch YouTube while you cardio!
    »     weight machines and equipment like medicine balls, bosu balls and mats
    »     stretching areas – with outdoor views
    »     an accessible raised stretching mat
    »     elevator access to lower level
    »     rental opportunities
A clean and inviting place to change is important. That’s why we have:
    »     men’s, women’s, family and gender inclusive changerooms
    »     day-use lockers are – free with your own lock
    »     steam rooms
    »     wheelchair accessible showers
    »     lock and towel service available for purchase

Facility Access Guidelines

Recreation strives to provide as much access as possible to all members. There are some access exceptions during scheduled class times and for our younger members in certain areas of the facility.

Age restrictions for programming are also outlined in individual prerequisites for all activities. Please see individual activity descriptions and prerequisites on ePlay or contact the Customer Service Centre (U130) at 403.440.6517 for more details.
