The WSI course prepares candidates to instruct Red Cross Swim Programs. This course is comprised of the skills evaluation and online modules. This session will ensure candidates have the necessary water safety knowledge, strokes and skills equivalent to the Red Cross Swim Kids 10 performance criteria as well as Instructor Emergency Response (IER) skills. Additionally you will receive information on how to access the online modules that focus on the theory of instruction through videos, virtual games, online activities, workbook exercises and a knowledge evaluation at the end of each module. You must complete all four steps of the course.
This course is the prerequisite for Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross. Course content includes CPR Level A and an introduction to the role of a lifesaver.
Bronze Cross (BC) and Standard First Aid (SFA) Lifesaving Society certifications are prerequisites for the National Lifeguard. You can register for the BC only or register for the combined course at a special price.
BC course includes an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities, CPR Level C and lifesaving skills. It is the third level of the Bronze Medal family.
SFA course includes head and spinal injuries, environmental emergencies, sudden medical illness, soft tissue injuries and poisons. You may be certified in either SFA or BC or both.
