We are a self-help organization, working within the Criminal Justice System to prevent crime and reduce recidivism. The self-help is applied to all pre and post release programs and services that are offered to persons in conflict with the law.

Association for the Rehabilitation of the Brain Injured (ARBI)
We are a brain injury service provider offering training in the implementation of rehabilitation programs. A team of professionals (physical, occupational, and speech therapists) evaluate each client and design an individualized rehabilitation program. Volunteers receive extensive training and ongoing support so they can implement the program safely and effectively. Time Commitment: one morning or afternoon (2.5 hours) per week (Monday to Friday)

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Calgary and Area

Victim Support Workers offering information, support and referrals to victims of crime and tragedy through telephone contact or in-person attendance to home, hospital or at the scene of the incident. Facilitating court preparation and accompaniment to victims/witnesses who have been subpoenaed to testify in criminal court.

The chapter raises money to fund research towards the goal of a cure or control for cystic fibrosis and to support high quality care for patients. We also promote public awareness of this devastating disease.

Some of the requirements to volunteer are: be 16 years of age, be able to commit six month of service, be able to pass a police security clearance, attend a volunteer information and orientation session and attend a placement interview.

Children's Cottage Society
Children's Cottage Society – preventing harm and neglect to all children and strengthening families by demonstrating leadership through a network of crisis, respite and support services.
Provides services at a Crisis Nursery for children 0 – 8 years old, Brenda’s House, a centre for families experiencing homelessness, in home respite and in home programming for parents and families.

Children’s Wish Foundation, The
Established in 1983, the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada is a national non-profit organization dedicated to fulfilling a favorite wish for children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. Since its inception, Children’s Wish has granted more than 15,000 wishes for children and their families and fulfills approximately 1000 wishes annually – each being an individual adventure, carefully structured to meet the needs of that particular child.

Chrysalis
Chrysalis: An Alberta Society for Citizens with Disabilities delvers personalized services to assist person with disabilities in achieving their recreational, volunteer and employment goals in the community. Chrysalis provides service to over 400 Albertans with mild to severe disabilities that include developmental disabilities; mental illness; dual diagnosis; and impairments affecting physical, sensory, and/or brain function.

City of Calgary, The
The City of Calgary’s facilities and programs are always looking for volunteers to enhance service to the public. Volunteer opportunities range from a brief, one-time commitment, to a weekly commitment on a year-round basis. There are opportunities for both youth and adults.

Distress Centre Calgary
The Distress Centre provides 24 hour crisis lines and on-site crisis counselling services.
The crisis line volunteer program is the largest and most visible program within the Distress Centre. Trained volunteers do the direct service work on these lines.

Duke of Edinburgh's Award, The
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is an international development programme founded by H.R.H. Prince Philip in the 1950’s. We have a current registration of close to 5,000 young people in Alberta. The award concept is one of individual challenge. It presents young people a balanced, non-competitive programme of voluntary activities, which encourages personal discovery and growth, self-reliance, perseverance, responsibility to themselves and service to the community. Achievers are required to participate in four mandatory activities: community service, physical recreation, skill development and undertake an expedition or exploration. Our Programme is designed to be a very individual experience, which provides for the inclusion of all youth between the ages of 14 – 25.

The Mustard Seed Street Ministry is a non-profit Christian humanitarian organization that has been caring for Calgary’s homeless for over 24 years.
