  1. I am a graduate, what services are available for me?
    As a graduate of a credit certificate, diploma or applied degree program you have access to a variety of career services, including personalized appointments, resume critiquing services and an online job bank. Please refer to our services for graduates web page for more detailed information.
  1. I am a graduate, but cannot access the MRU job bank. What can I do?
    Our services are accessible to current credit students (part time and full time), and graduates of credit programs who left Mount Royal with a certificate, diploma or applied degree.
  • If you graduated from a credit program, please contact us directly so that we can re-activate your access to the job bank.
  • If you graduated from a non-credit Continuing Education program, please use our online resource centre which provides links to job search resources, external job banks, and other Calgary-based employment and career services.
  • If you graduated from a conjoint Mount Royal - Athabasca program, your access to this service may have been temporarily disconnected. Please call or e-mail us directly so that we can re-assess your access to the job bank.

  1. I graduated some time ago and have forgotten my MRU student ID number. How can I access my ID number?

To access the MRU Student and Graduate Online Job Bank, you require your student ID number. Career Services can provide you with your ID number for this purpose if you present government-issued photo identification in person to the Career Services department located in A200 Kerby Hall. Please also provide:

  • Full name (as listed when registered at MRU)
  • Date of birth
  • Program and year of completion (as listed on parchment)

We can no longer provide student ID numbers via email. If you cannot visit us in person, please contact the Office of the Registrar at 403.440.3435 or studentrecords@mtroyal.ca.

  1. How long do I have access to the services offered by Career Services?
    As a graduate of a Mount Royal degree or diploma program, Career Services invites you to access free career and employment support for up to five (5) years after graduation.
  1. Do you have statistics on graduate employment in my field?
    Career Services can provide information regarding labour market trends, and advise you on how to research your field of interest. Graduates can book an appointment or contact Career Services directly for more information.

    Use the Mount Royal website to review information about various programs and courses. Each program area provides information unique to its industry.

  1. I work during regular business hours. How else can I access your services?

  1. For resume or cover letter critiques:

Submit your material via e-mail ( studentjobs@mtroyal.ca), fax (403.440.6655) or use the after-hours drop box located just outside the main doors at Career Services (A200 Kerby Hall) and including the following information:

  • Full name
  • MRU student ID number
  • Telephone number
  • Program/faculty
  • Major/concentration
  • Year of graduation
  • Type of work sought (e.g., full-time, part-time, seasonal)
  • Any questions you may have for the person critiquing

Your material will be ready for pick up within five business days. If you cannot pick up your material, please state that clearly and we will e-mail your critiqued material back to you.

    Contact Career Services and arrange a telephone appointment with a career development coordinator.

  1. Is there assistance available to help me write a resume?
    The best person to effectively write about your skills, qualifications and experience is you. Through our resume critiquing service and personalized appointments, Career Services can work with you to help you create highly effective resumes, customized to the work area of your choice. Please refer back to our services for graduates web page for more detailed information.
  1. Do you offer career testing?
    Career testing is only one aspect of the process needed to help you identify career options. Evaluating how your values, interests, education and abilities connect with the world of work is a much broader process.

  • Book an appointment with a career development coordinator to find out what methods you can use to help you choose a career or make a career change. Career Services staff will work with you on self-directed assessments or refer you to additional services.

    urrent students, graduates, and alumni can request their MRU transcripts by logging on to MyMRU and clicking on the link to 'Student Records' on the Student Resources tab.
