
What kinds of work term opportunities may be available?
A variety of excellent work term positions called “Directed Field Studies” exist for Justice Studies students in a variety of industries. Employers will be in all sectors, including government agencies, private companies and not-for-profit organizations. While most of the work term positions are located in Calgary, students should be prepared to relocate throughout Alberta or across Canada in order to secure a work term position. To date, Justice Studies students have completed Directed Field Studies in Calgary, Edmonton, Grande Prairie, Yellowknife, Red Deer, Vancouver, Osoyoos, Regina, Winnipeg, Nova Scotia and England.
Justice Studies DFS students have held positions in: law enforcement, loss prevention, youth work, corrections, security, courts, legal and research.

Students' skills, abilities and experience with job hunting are all different. The Professional Development material and assignments are meant to assist students at all levels to achieve and/or maintain a competitive edge in the work term job competition process. The Professional Development sessions will provide students with valuable tools and resources they can apply to their job search after graduation.
The topics presented in the Professional Development sessions are based on feedback from our work term employers.
