Develop, Train & Learn (DTL) Committee
the MRSSA
~ Learning Opportunities ~

The Develop, Train and Learn Committee coordinates a fund for professional development opportunities for Mount Royal support staff. Check out the Develop Train & Learn Committee Statement of Principles for information on developing and determining support for your own learning opportunities.

The mandate of the Develop, Train & Learn Committee is to fund work-related group learning, training and development activities which are offered collaboratively.

• Develop
Inspire people to develop their individual and/or group capacity for their work, to plan their careers and to connect with the institution; through courses and workshops, individuals form connections in process improvement communities, departments, interdepartmental communities, MRU communities, and professional communities

• Train
Enhance and apply skills through training to adapt to new standards, expectations and environments, and to meet personal expectations about the job

• Learn
Encourage on-going participation in learning; create communities of practice; create repository of learning materials available on the web and in hardcopy

MRSSA members can access the learning opportunities either through submitting proposals for group funding, or by taking advantage of various DTL coordinated learning opportunities such as workshops and key note speakers.

A variety of workshops and courses are offered to MRSSA members each semester. These course offerings are promoted and emailed directly to MRSSA members.

Visit the MRSSA website at www.mrssa.ca for further information on professional development including the annual Professional Development Days, and tuition reimbursement opportunities (EDT committee) for Mount Royal support staff.

If you register for and participate in courses and workshops, request your supervisor's approval and commit to attending and completing the course. We are committed to building performance development conversations that further your working experience at Mount Royal.

We recognize that workload and life's challenges can get in the way of attending a course; however we must be responsible with the professional development funds provided from the collective agreement.
