The Department of Social Work and Disability Studies invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Social Work Diploma program, to commence August 15, 2013, subject to final budgetary approval. Priority will be given to entry level candidates.

The Social Work Diploma is the entry credential for social work practice in Alberta; graduates are eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers.
The successful applicant will be able to teach a broad range of social work courses, be familiar with web based learning platforms, be prepared to engage in course and program development, and have an interest in engaging in research. Commitment to adult learning principles, a passion for teaching, and a willingness to engage in service to the program, university, and community are required.
New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/scholarship/service pattern has a focus on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member be involved in a research program as well as service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/service pattern has a focus on teaching and service only. There is an option to change work patterns after tenure.
A Ph.D. in Social Work (or equivalent) completed or in progress is required; a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) is required. The successful candidate should have a minimum of five years of social work practice experience and be eligible for registration with the Alberta Association of Social Workers. Applicants interested in the teaching/scholarship/service pattern should have the ability and intent to pursue a research program.
