MRU Library requires 2 faculty librarians effective August 15, 2013 as follows:
Full-Time, Limited Term (1 position, August 15, 2013 – June 15, 2014)
Full-Time, Limited Term (1 position, August 15, 2013 – June 15, 2015)
Mount Royal University Library has a full-time staff of 60, including 15 faculty librarians. The Library has developed a comprehensive information literacy program and a range of on-site and virtual services and resources. The growing collection comprises 535,000 monographs and over 81,000 serial titles in digital and print formats. The Library supports approximately 12,000 full and part-time students and over 1,900 faculty and staff. As a student-centred, teaching-focused undergraduate university, Mount Royal University offers an exceptional student experience and educational programming informed by scholarship. |Duties:||The successful candidates will be members of the Library’s active information literacy team delivering high-quality, curriculum-based information instruction in support of student success. Reference and collection development duties will also be assigned. The positions may involve project work; include some supervisory responsibilities, and weekend and/or evening work. The ideal candidates will have experience teaching in an undergraduate classroom and will contribute skills and aptitudes that complement those of the current Library team.|
Applicants for these positions must have an accredited Masters degree in Library/Information Studies. Candidates should demonstrate:
• Demonstrated experience in information literacy instruction;
• Ability to design and produce teaching and learning materials;
• Experience in collection development in support programs and scholarship;
• Excellent skills in communication and teamwork; and
• Demonstrated experience in an academic environment.
Other preferred qualifications:
• Experience in leadership roles with teams and staff.
