Description: Mount Royal University is one of Alberta’s oldest
post-secondary educational institutions.
Established as a college in 1910, Mount Royal
became a university in September 2009. A
community oriented institution, Mount Royal has

The Bissett School of Business offers a Bachelor
of Business Administration with majors in
Accounting, General Management, Human Resources
and Marketing; a diploma in Aviation; as well as
areas of specialty including Entrepreneurship,
Financial Services, Insurance, International
Business, Non-profit Studies, and Supply Chain
Management. Bissett places a high value on
entrepreneurial behavior at the individual and
firm level, offering focused programs to allow
students to develop in these areas. Small class
sizes facilitate close student-professor contact
and a strong campus identity. Students also
benefit from experiential learning opportunities,
including field studies, work terms, placements,
and formal mentorships.
 
Duties: Mount Royal University is seeking an
entrepreneurial academic to lead the Bissett
School of Business through the next phase of its
evolution: a dynamic teacher, scholar and
researcher with a talent for community outreach
and fundraising, the Dean will bring a strong
track record of managing change and advancing
strategic projects. An accomplished communicator,
the Dean will be an accessible leader, capable of
rallying and mentoring staff and faculty and
creating a positive work and learning culture.
Possessing an insider’s understanding of the
corporate world, the Dean will be adept at
managing relationships and creating partnerships
with external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Provost, the Dean works closely
with department chairs, institute directors, other
Deans/Directors and Officers to further the
development of strong programs and to maximize
learning opportunities for students. Through
familiarity with instructional programs, policies,
and overall University goals and needs, the Dean
provides academic and administrative leadership in
the School and the University.
 
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess a contemporary
vision of excellence in undergraduate business
education and bring significant experience in
administration gained within a post secondary
institution. A successful background in managing
budgets, faculty, staff, and students is required,
and applicants must have experience working with
funding, grants, and related processes for
research and scholarship.
