Description: **PLEASE NOTE – STRONG INTERNAL CANDIDATE**

Reporting to the Administrative Assistant, Academic Advising Services, the Academic Advising Assistant will be required to provide initial/ongoing service and information to serve a high volume of students both in-person and on the telephone. The incumbent is required to learn University policies, procedures, programs, dates and deadlines, related to the operations of Enrolment Services.
 
Duties: • Reception duties including the appropriate screening of clients, according to their needs, for the purpose of receiving advising services, booking advising workshops and appointments
• Answering the main inquiry telephone line for Academic Advising Services while providing in-person service to students and answering the general Academic Advising email account
• Interpreting and dispensing information about University programs, services, policies, procedures
• Having a functional competence of the student information system (Banner) including the ability to retrieve and interpret information
• Maintaining and tracking statistical information on student appointments and phone inquiries
• Training, mentoring, and scheduling of casual staff as required
 
Qualifications: • A three or four year Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Excellent customer service skills to serve a high volume of clients on a daily basis
• Two years of relevant work experience involving customer service related activities
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Substantial skill and experience in using MS Excel and MS Word
• Familiarity and expertise in navigating post-secondary websites, including Mount Royal,
University of Calgary, etc.
• Ability to work independently and use a high level of independent judgement
• Familiarity with student information systems (eg. Banner) would be considered an
 
Salary: $1,614.50 semi-monthly
