The Facilities Coordinator reports directly to the Manager of Residence Services and is responsible for the day to day management of facilities for both East and West Residences.
 
Duties: This position will have the direct responsibility for supervising, organizing and managing all maintenance staff as well as renovations/repairs for the Mount Royal University Residence Complex. Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Work in cooperation with coordinators and the manager to meet departmental budget goals.
• Ensure policies and procedures are updated and followed, thereby contributing to the overall students and guests’ success and satisfaction
• Supervise, recruit and train all maintenance full-time and part-time staff. Monitor labour use carefully and assign tasks and projects that utilize work force accordingly.
• Plan, coordinate and supervise the day-to-day and long-term maintenance operations and risk management of the buildings and townhouses
• Ensure residence units are inspected regularly and properly prepared for occupation
• Coordinate and liaise with other University departments and University approved contractors to ensure that service contracts and tradesmen work is done in a timely, economically efficient and professional manner
• Maintain and protect the University inventory used in Residence and recommend expenses for the annual budgeting process
 
Qualifications: • Two year diploma from a Community College or Equivalent or Journeyman ticket
• 5-8 years of relevant experience (particularly in construction and/or building operations)
• Significant experience with budget and resource management
• Excellent knowledge in home and apartment construction, operations and maintenance
• Knowledge of basic building safety principles and the relationship to risk management
• Proven supervisory experience and/or skills
• An understanding of student residence and the unique needs of a student population
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong time management and organizational skills
 
Salary: $2,123.08 semi-monthly
