Description: The primary responsibility of this position is to support the varied administrative functions of the Department of Human Resources.
Duties: Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
o provide reception for HR Department including answering the main telephone line and responding to inquiries as appropriate
o manage incoming resumes; notify applicants of any problems with applications; download resumes into electronic folders; batch electronic resumes into PDF folders and forward to departments at the close of competitions
o filing in both HR and Payroll departments
o respond to routine requests for information regarding status of competitions
o update posting boards and employment opportunities website
o gather materials and prepare new employee and benefits orientation packages
o provide administrative support for the Disability Consultant and OHS Consultant, including booking appointments and rooms
o prepare employment verification letters for employees on request and collect FOIP release
o assist with employee awards process and preparation
o process address changes; assist with mass mailings to University employees
o provide back-up to HR Assistants in setting up interviews and distributing interview packages, booking rooms, etc.
o provide back-up support to Payroll department as necessary.
Qualifications: o Secretarial or Office Assistant certificate and 1 to 2 years’ related experience in an office environment
o High regard for customer service; pleasant telephone manner
o Strong organizational skills and ability to independently manage workload
o Strong attention to detail and accuracy
o Familiarity with Microsoft Office
o Previous experience in a Human Resources or similarly confidential and sensitive environment would be an asset

o Starting salary commensurate with experience
o 35 hour work week
o 3 weeks holidays to start plus 1 week during Christmas break
o Recreation facility membership
