Description: NOTE: THERE ARE STRONG INTERNAL CANDIDATES
 
Duties: Reporting to the Manager of Employee Services, responsibilities of this position will include:
o Conduct a detailed and analytical review of the payroll clearing accounts on a monthly, annual and fiscal basis.
o Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the GL as it relates to payroll, in accordance with GAAP.
o Maintain the deferred salary account, 4 for 5 trust, payroll bank account, pension account and PD accounts.
o Lead the analysis to validate the accuracy of all payroll data through pre and post audit reports.
o Ensure payroll processing is compliant with University agreements, policies and legislation.
o Verify that regulatory changes have been accurately implemented.
o Maintain and administer the Web Time Entry program for the University.
o Provide leadership, training and guidance for WTE issues.
o Review and approve all journal entries.
o Develop and maintain a comprehensive Payroll Manual.
o Assist with fiscal and calendar year-end reporting including T4’s filings and WCB returns.
o Assist in special project work as required.
o Provide backup support to the Manager of Employee Services.
 
Qualifications: o Must have extensive knowledge of payroll processing principles and control procedures
o Must have working knowledge of all yearend processes including T4 and WCB filing
o In-depth knowledge of payroll concepts and legislation
o Working knowledge of GAAP principles and their application to payroll processing
o Current CPA accreditation
o 6+ years of progressive payroll/auditing work experience
o Advanced working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Access
o Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with minimal direction
o Ability to work in a time-constrained environment and with continuous interruptions
o Previous experience with Banner system
