Did you know?
Inappropriate Use
Please read the Acceptable Use Policy. Chatting and using any messaging services are not allowed on the network. This includes ICQ, MSN, Trillian, and any other SMS (Short Messaging Services).

After Hours Access to Teaching Labs
If you require after hours access to a lab where you are currently taking a course, you need to get your Campus Card activated at the Security Operations Office (X200E). You will require a copy of your class schedule showing that you are registered in a course that requires you to have access to a particular lab.

The username and password for MRU sites/online services: The username and password that is required to log into the Computer labs, access Blackboard courseware, access MyMRU email and the University Wireless Network is the same username and password you used when you activated your MyMRU account. If you do not know what your username and password is, please see the How Do I Log-in to MRU Computers? tutorial.

If you have difficulties accessing Student Web Services or the mruGradU8 from outside MyMRU, contact the Registrar’s Office at 403.440.3303.

Leaving computers unattended: Students may leave a computer on and unattended for no more than 15 minutes: if a computer is left on unattended for more than this allotted time, other students will have the right to use the computer. The computer may be shut down if unattended for more than 15 minutes by faculty, staff or designated computer lab monitors.

Shutting down University computers: Please note that all University computers will automatically shut down at midnight everyday.

Saving your work: Please note that any work you save on the computers will be lost when you log out. See section on Saving your work for detailed suggestions and information on storing your work.

Food & drink: You may not eat in the Computer Labs. Covered drinks may be placed under your desk or at designated tables. Getting food and spills from drinks onto keyboards and computers causes expensive damage to the equipment. The computer equipment must be treated with respect.

Remember to log out when you are done: Leaving your account logged into the system gives other users access to files on your network drive. Other students could also print in the labs while debiting funds from your account. It is highly recommended that you log out when you are done using the computers.
