Jim Beswick is an operations consultant specializing in enabling companies to make effective Lean thinking and tools to achieve operational excellence. He has over 20 years of hands-on experience of making change stick at companies' varying from family businesses to multinationals operating in industries from Agriculture to Oil & Gas and from Aerospace to Education.
Jim's skill is in taking the "Lean" ideas of identifying value, waste reduction and improving work flow and interpreting them in ways that his clients can use to make effective and efficient processes. This creates alignment between leadership and front line workers improving performance. The results companies achieve include increased productivity, shorter lead times and improved on-time delivery.
Anand Nicodemus is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) from Alberta and holds certifications in Lean (Certified Practitioner and Black Belt), Process Re-engineering and Six Sigma (Black Belt) with a keen interest in mission critical processes in public services, health care and aviation.
Anand is privileged to be associated with the Leading Edge Group – primarily focused on the application of Lean practices in Canadian healthcare. He enjoys teaching in the Lean Management, BPM and Business Analysis programs at Mount Royal University, besides working at the City of Calgary's Water Services where he coaches improvement teams in the application of Lean Practices, Kaizen Techniques and the Six Sigma problem solving methodology. His focus so far has been on critical processes related to 311 Trouble Response and water systems repair and maintenance.
Anand takes particular interest in Lean, and emphasizes its potential to benefit society. He has leveraged his rich experience to establish himself as a well-respected practitioner of the art and science of Kaizen Blitz, Hoshin Kanri, application of Little’s Law to transactional environments, One Point Lessons, Kanban, Lean Software Development, VSM for services, Single Piece flow for services, Bucket Brigade and the Milk Run. He also specializes in Preventive Design by the application of CTQ Analysis, QFD, Poke Yoke and FMEA.
Previously, as Head of Operational Excellence for one of the largest government-owned enterprises in the world, Anand set up and operated the Lean Six Sigma based continuous improvement program that spanned 22 business units, engaged 15,000 staff and generated annual recurring benefit in excess of $500 million annually. About $50 million of this was directly generated from the use of Gemba Kaizen Workshops or Kaizen Blitzes, and approximately another $150 million from Hoshin Kanri’s breakthrough objectives.
His experience, particularly in Lean, is diverse – having coached Kaizen Teams in repair operations, banking, insurance, telecom operations, leasing, dry-dock operations, port operations, facility management, high technology and health care. He finds it fascinating to observe different nuances in the event within different countries – Dubai, Ireland and Canada. His most recent Kaizen Events were at hospitals in Ontario and BC. His experience of Process Improvement also extends to oil and gas, transportation, manufacturing, law enforcement, security services, insurance, banking and construction.
Jason excels at developing and leading high performance teams focused on Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence. Driving this performance is a solid foundation of experience in Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing and Project Management. With more than 16 years in a leadership role Jason has demonstrated his subject matter expertise in industries such as Oil and Gas, Automotive, Construction, Education and Retail.
He currently holds a Director’s position at New West Truck Centre leading the supply chain team across multiple regions in their pursuit of excellence. Jason is also President of Advanced Performance Management providing consultation services in Supply Chain Management and Operational Excellence.
Since 2013, Jason has been an instructor at Mount Royal University supporting the Continuing Education Faculty in their Supply Chain Management and Lean Management Extension Certificate. In addition to his accreditation in Manufacturing Leadership from St. Clair Collage, he himself has successfully completed MRU’s Supply Chain Management, Lean Management & Continuous Improvement and Adult Educator Extension Certificates. Jason is currently pursuing his BBA Degree at Yorkville University specializing in Supply Chain Management.
