Important Notice - PJVA Program


The Petroleum Joint Venture Analyst program will no longer be offered at Mount Royal University as of December 31, 2016.  All courses in this certificate must be successfully completed prior to this date.  No transfers of incomplete courses or programs will be granted.
 

 

Requirements

  • Canadian high school diploma or equivalent or mature student status with at least two years of business experience.
  • You must have internet access.

Program Notes

  • Online classes have weekly quizzes. Refer to course outline on BlackBoard for more information.
  • All final exams in PJVA courses (except: The Petroleum Industry: an Integrated Approach) are administered in person, during a scheduled exam session(s) on campus.
  • CAPPA Level 1 - Introduction to the Oil Patch is recognized as a course equivalency for The Petroleum Industry: An Integrated Approach.

Program Format

  • Complete the 4 courses (180hours)
  • Minimum grade of 70% (minimum grade C in The Petroleum Industry: an Integrated Approach) or higher in each course. Evaluation is based on quiz and final exam results
  • Can be completed within 1 year up to a maximum of 5 years.

Joint Venture Administrator
  • Basic understanding of Joint Venture concepts including: fee structures, terminology, and PJVA Model Agreements including: Service Agreements, Construction Ownership and Operation Agreements and Unit Agreements.
  • Provide assistance in making technical recommendations in response to Joint Venture proposals, demonstrates skills in basic economics, negotiating, business policies and corporate procedures.

Joint Venture Analyst

  • Understand and follow established Joint Venture procedures and guidelines and build knowledge in agreement terminology, agreement maintenance and compliance within Joint Venture agreements and how these concepts relate to exhibit revisions, agreement amendments and Mail Ballots.
  • Understand the basics of production flow and how it relates to service agreements.
  • Ability to demonstrate skills in basic economics, and knowledge in business policies and procedures; drafting and comprehend assignment and novation agreements.

From exploration to production, this course introduces the petroleum industry, its terminology and applications.

Challenge Exam - The Petroleum Industry: An Integrated Approach
Available to those with 3+ years of industry experience that includes specific course content. Pass mark is C. This challenge exam may only be taken once. Materials are optional. Exam must be scheduled and written within 4 weeks of registration date. For more information e-mail cescience@mtroyal.ca
